Inside the 2015 New Landmark Libraries

Library Journal’s New Landmark Libraries project identifies the most innovative recently opened new buildings or major renovations. The 2015 round selected 11 New Landmarks and 11 Honorable Mentions. This highly visual presentation and discussion will be part virtual tour of these New Landmarks and part trends deep dive. Explore how these exemplars are reinventing the library as they respond to community needs with green elements, flexible solutions small and large, site adjacencies, and more.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Have insight into the top trends in library design and renovations in public libraries 2: Depart with models to share with stakeholders, trustees, and staff 3: Informed about strategies from within the NLL projects that enhance future sustainability of the winning libraries

As the U-M Library's Space Design and Assessment Librarian I collaborate with library administration, librarians, and staff across all library units to develop, inform or coordinate major initiatives associated with designing adaptive learning and research library spaces to enable collaboration, facilitate innovative forms of research and learning, and effectively integrate technology in a residential campus setting.
