Dine Around Denver

Wednesday, April 6

Get a taste of Denver with local librarians and other PLA colleagues over a delicious meal. The Local Arrangements Subcommittee has graciously arranged dinners in a number of restaurants throughout the city on Wednesday, April 6. Dinners are pay-your-own-way, and space is limited. A sign-up sheet for each of the restaurants will be available at the Local Information Desk in the main lobby of the Colorado Convention Center, near the 14th Street entrances.

From the martini-mixing Cruise Room across from the dining room at McCormick’s, to Pints Pub which is so close to the Denver Central Library it could well be our staff lounge, there is a dining choice to suit all tastes. Some restaurants are within walking distance—and all are an easy taxi ride—from the convention center. If you decide to walk, it’s a good idea to use the buddy system. Denver dining attire is casual; jeans are acceptable.

6:45 PM Reservation

The Denver Kitchen
1530 16th Street (16th & Wazee)
Superb food; community bistro. (Not to be confused with its sister restaurant, Kitchen Next Door at Union Station). This location has floor-to-ceiling windows and candles in the evening.

7:00 PM Reservations

Corner Office
1401 Curtis Street
It’s always quittin’ time here, where a collection of clocks are stuck on 5 and bartenders mix a mean martini. Fish tacos get rave reviews.

Katie Mullens
1550 Court Place
Denver’s largest Irish pub and restaurant. So authentic, you’ll feel like you landed in Dublin.

1730 Wynkoop Street
Hipster scene, tequila and tacos. Need we say more?

McCormick’s Fish House & Bar
1659 Wazee Street
Order oysters on the half shell or a blue-plate special such as Wazee Street meatloaf. Step into the Cruise Room (across from the main dining room) to find Denver’s art deco at its finest. If you love a good martini, imbibe here.

Pints Pub
221 West 13th Avenue
This place is enough to make a Guinness-lover swoon. British style pub, just steps from the Central Library, in the area known as the Golden Triangle. Pub grub includes hearty stews.

Rock Bottom Brewery
1001 16th Street
Location, location, location. The ultimate spot to observe the hustle bustle of the 16th Street Mall. Cool beer gear for sale. Thumbs up to staff who answer the phone, “You’ve hit rock bottom.”

1400 Larimer Street
Modern Mexican cuisine. Tamayo fare brims with flavor and the margaritas pack a wallop. Menu includes tequila-flambéed shrimp and slow-cooked pork shoulder. Spectacular rooftop terrace, weather permitting.

Willie G’s Steaks and Seafood
1585 Lawrence Street
Steaks, seafood and classic cocktails in an urbane atmosphere. Watch the happenings on the busy 16th Street Mall from your table.

Wynkoop Brewing Company
1684 18th Street
Classic pub grub, including burgers, fish and chips and shepherd’s pie. Former Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper founded this brewpub.
