View from the Director’s Chair: Filmmaking for Teens
Friday, April 8, 2016, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Colorado Convention Center, Room 702/704/706
View from the Director’s Chair was a program developed to introduce teens to professional filmmaking equipment. For eight weeks, eleven high school students met at the Downers Grove (Ill.) Public Library to learn about film. Each class built on the previous week’s lessons, growing from the essential basics of how to handle camera equipment to advanced video editing. The students produced four final films, which screened for over 200 people at our town’s movie theater.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Receive an eight-week filmmaking curriculum, including a full course worksheet for each of the eight classes. 2: Gain ideas on how to work with teen filmmakers to structure fun programs and events for other library patrons. 3: Receive a list of recommended equipment, both hardware and software, that you can use to build similar filmmaking program at your library.
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.
This session will have: Medium interaction: single speaker/panel with questions or audience participation throughout
