Extraordinary at Any Size: Tips for Keeping Your Library Relevant and Your Community Engaged for Every Size Library
Saturday, April 9, 2016, 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Colorado Convention Center, Room Mile High Ballroom 1-2
A library can transform a community and a community can change a library. An engaged library system demands a shift in internal communication, focus, and training. Institutional relevancy requires an ability to reject traditional library responses to community issues and truly innovate. Participants in the Libraries Transforming Communities (LTC) initiative will share how their systems achieved significant change by “turning outward.” Topics include administrative buy-in, staff training processes, system adaptations, successes, and challenges.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Hear about relatable and replicable LTC experiences from three library systems. 2: Be able to compose a 2-minute elevator speech to pitch the LTC approach. 3: Know where to go for next steps.
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 2: People with some knowledge, who want to increase their understanding.
This session will have: Low interaction: single speaker/panel with Q&A at the end of the program
Track: Collaborate
