Services to Those Who Serve: Library Programs for Veterans and Active Duty Military Families
Thursday, April 7, 2016, 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Colorado Convention Center, Room 109/111/113
There are 21.8 million veterans and more than 1.3 million active duty service members. Many service members face challenges unnoticed by civilians. Veterans must cope with separation from the military and the lingering impact of combat. Active duty members and families must adapt to deployment cycles. Learn how libraries are responding with services for veterans and their families. This session will help you understand your audience’s needs, identify collaborators, and take steps toward planning successful services.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Identify issues that military families and veterans face. 2: Know the range of resources and military-serving organizations available to support the military community. 3: Create a plan to engage with the military community to determine its priorities and interests.
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.
This session will have: Low interaction: single speaker/panel with Q&A at the end of the program
