Organizational Health: Capitalizing on Your Most Important Asset

The session will showcase San Antonio Public Library’s (SAPL) groundbreaking focus on Organizational Health implemented as a priority in SAPL’s strategic plan. An Organizational Health focus has helped SAPL cultivate an environment that inspires innovation and provides responsive management and decision making, while also implementing best practices to increase operational efficiencies, encourage creative risk-taking, and reward breakthrough programs and service. Attendees will learn about how SAPL’s results impacted the organization and how to replicate the program.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Gain an understanding of the importance of Organizational Health to the overall success of the organization. 2: Leave with examples that can be used in your library. 3: Be motivated to replicate part(s) of the program.

Roberta Sparks is the Organizational Health Manager for the San Antonio Public Library. Ms. Sparks has been with the San Antonio Public Library for over 19 years and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Library's Organizational Health initiative. She believes that making staff training and recognition a priority is the difference between a good and a great organization.

Kate has been a Public Services Coordinator for the San Antonio Public Library for 7 years. Prior to that she was a Branch Manager at two separate locations. She managed the opening of two of SAPL's larger locations - one in 2005 and one in 2006. Her role in the creation of the 2011-2016 Strategic Plan was co-chair of the Organization Health focus committee.
