Project Outcome Enrollment Workshop: Simple Tools to Measure our True Impact on the People We Serve

At this preconference, PLA will convene public libraries representatives and introduce them to Project Outcome and how it helps them measure the impact of their services. Library leaders from PLA’s Project Outcome Task Force will kick off the session by describing their experience in pilot-testing outcome measurement in seven core service areas. Attendees will learn how to deploy outcome measures in their libraries, collect and use resulting data, and leverage the project support network to ensure successful adoption.

From 1:00-2:00 PM, PLA will hold an optional in-depth enrollment session, walking preconference participants through how to set up their accounts in a step-by-step presentation with ample time for Q&A. Lunch will be provided for these participants.

At the end of this session, participants will:

1: Know how to enroll in Project Outcome and understand the resources available to them. 2: Know how to administer the surveys and report findings to the Project Outcome portal. 3: Be able to select which surveys to use base an strategic planning needs and goals.

Carolyn Anthony,

Carolyn Anthony is Director of the Skokie Public Library, Illinois. She was President of the Public Library Association 2013-2014, initiating the development of easy-to-use Outcome Measures that could be widely adopted by public libraries throughout the U.S. She has also been involved in leadership development in PLA and was instrumental in the design and implementation of the PLA Leadership Institute. She is the public library Co-Chair of the Digital Content Working Group (DCWG).

Denise Davis, Deputy Library Director
Sacramento Public Library, Sacramento, CA

Denise Davis is the Deputy Library Director of Sacramento Public Library and has contributed to the library profession with more than 30 years of library experience, as well as directing research at the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science and the American Library Association's Office for Research and Statistics. Denise chairs the Public Library Association (PLA) Performance Measures Task Force.

Crystal Schimpf, Training Consultant
Kixal, LLC, Florence, CO

Crystal Schimpf is both librarian and trainer with a passion for technology. As founder of Kixal, she develops interactive training to help library staff learn on the topics of digital literacy, advocacy, and storytelling. She has delivered engaging presentations for library staff in California, Colorado, Florida, Washington, and Wisconsin and at conferences nationwide.

Cancellation Policy

Written cancellations, requests for refunds, and/or changes will be accepted until February 26, 2016, and are subject to a $30 handling fee. Refunds will be processed after April 25, 2016. According to PLA policy, all meal events require preregistration. The above cancellation/change information also applies to all preconferences, meal events, and tours.

The PLA 2016 Conference is offered on a cost-recovery basis. PLA reserves the right to cancel all or any part of this event if there is insufficient registration or for other reasons. Neither ALA nor PLA is responsible for cancellation charges assessed by the airlines or travel agencies, or other losses incurred due to the cancellation of the workshops. There is no formal dress code at the PLA Conference. What’s most important is to dress for comfort.

Conference Logo

The custom logos of the PLA 2016 Conference are the property of PLA. Anyone wishing to use the logos in their communications and promotional materials must: 1) Seek permission from PLA; and 2) Submit communication/artwork incorporating the logo to PLA for final approval. The logo may not be modified and must be reproduced in its entirety (i.e., no outlines, cropping). No carrying of firearms allowed in the Colorado Convention Center unless you’re on-duty law enforcement or off-duty and on payroll of the show or SMG (convention center management).
