Sustainable Connected Learning for Youth

Connected Learning is an innovative approach to youth learning that is based on the principle that learning happens best when it is interest-driven, peer supported, and academically oriented. Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Public Library system has spent the last two years developing rich, outcomes-based programs, and creating a sustainable pool of volunteers with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) background. Learn how the connected learning model has been implemented at Cuyahoga County Public Library’s 27 branches.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Have a working knowledge of connected learning. 2: Possess program curriculum to implement connected learning programs at your library. 3: Know successful strategies for how the connected learning model can be implemented across an organization.

Megan Barrett, Information & Technology Literacy Specialist

Megan Barrett is the Information & Technology Literacy Specialist for the Cuyahoga County Public Library where she coordinates technology programs. Megan works closely with staff to create and facilitate programs that foster connected learning in their library branches. Megan has a Masters in Library and Information Science.
Rebecca Ranallo, Information & Technology Literacy Manager

Rebecca Ranallo is the Information & Technology Literacy Manager for the Cuyahoga County Public Library where she oversees innovation, implementation and training. Rebecca has a Masters in Library and Information Science and a background in adult technology instruction. Before joining the Cuyahoga County Public Library, Rebecca worked for Cuyahoga Community College where she managed their Technology & Information Literacy learning program and designed, evaluated and implemented distance learning instruction.
