The Visible Library: Exposing Collections Through Linked Data
Friday, April 8, 2016, 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Colorado Convention Center, Room 301-303
For libraries to remain relevant, we need to meet our users where they are: on smart phones and tablets, in front of computers, and almost always on the Web. Libraries must change the way we format, present, and connect data, so that we can make the Web our best partner. The Early Adopter Public Libraries in the Libhub Initiative are paving the way to provide the entry point for the larger library community to make the transition to exposure on the Web. Panelists will share their experiences with transforming data from MARC to BIBFRAME, the impacts on other library services, and what we’re learning that will help others transform their data.
At the end of this session, participants will:
1: Learn how to participate in the Libhub Initiative. 2: Understand the value of translating MARC to BIBRAME. 3: Increase the online visibility of your library's collection.
The session organizer(s) identified this session as appropriate for:
Level 1: People with no previous knowledge of the topic.
This session will have: Low interaction: single speaker/panel with Q&A at the end of the program
